Both nations deepen cooperation in health innovation, AI-driven healthcare, biomedical research, data sharing, and life sciences to accelerate next-generation healthcare solutions
India and France have unveiled an ambitious Innovation Roadmap 2030 that places healthcare, biotechnology, artificial intelligence (AI), and life sciences research at the heart of their expanding strategic partnership.
Announced during the inauguration of the India-France Year of Innovation 2026 on June 14, 2026 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, the roadmap aims to accelerate collaborative innovation and strengthen bilateral cooperation in emerging technologies and healthcare.
A major focus of the agreement is the development of AI-powered and research-based solutions to address global healthcare challenges. Both countries have committed to advancing secure, consent-based data-sharing frameworks that can support medical research, public health initiatives, and healthcare innovation while safeguarding privacy and patient rights.
Building on existing collaborations between the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and France’s Health Data Hub, India and France will work toward interoperable health data infrastructures that enable responsible data exchange for healthcare research and AI applications.
The initiative is expected to support faster development of data-driven healthcare solutions, disease surveillance systems, and precision medicine approaches.
The roadmap also highlights the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in biomedical sciences and health innovation through the Franco-Indian Campus in Life Sciences for Health (FIC-LSH). The platform is expected to play a larger role in promoting joint research programmes, academic collaboration, innovation partnerships, and talent exchange in healthcare and biotechnology.
Artificial intelligence has emerged as a central pillar of the partnership, with both countries committing to the development of safe, secure, and trustworthy AI systems. In healthcare, AI is expected to accelerate medical research, improve diagnostics, enhance clinical decision-making, and support the development of innovative treatments.
The roadmap further emphasizes closer collaboration among universities, research institutions, startups, and industry to accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into commercial healthcare and biotechnology products.
Through platforms such as the Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (CEFIPRA) and the newly launched India-France Innovation Network (IFIN), researchers and entrepreneurs from both countries will gain access to collaborative research opportunities, innovation ecosystems, and technology development programmes.
