The state has received Rs. 84,000 crore investments in the sector over two years, positioning Hyderabad among the world’s leading life sciences clusters
Telangana’s life sciences ecosystem has achieved a major milestone, reaching an estimated valuation of $145 billion following investments of more than Rs. 84,000 crore over the past two years, marking the fastest expansion phase in the state’s history.
The achievement was highlighted during the 7th Board Meeting of the Telangana Life Sciences Foundation (TLSF), chaired by D. Sridhar Babu, Minister for Industries & Commerce.
During the meeting, Shakthi M. Nagappan, CEO of TLSF, presented a detailed overview of the sector’s growth during his tenure, identifying the last two years as a transformational period under the leadership of A. Revanth Reddy and D. Sridhar Babu.
Since 2016, Telangana’s life sciences sector has expanded nearly threefold, establishing Hyderabad as one of the world’s premier hubs for pharmaceuticals, biotech, medical technology, and health-tech innovation. Hyderabad now hosts technology and innovation centres from nine of the world’s top ten life sciences companies, making it the only region outside the United States to achieve this distinction.
The Board commended Shakthi M. Nagappan for his contribution to the ecosystem’s development and noted that the Government has appointed him as Advisor (Life Sciences). He will also continue to serve on the Board of TLSF.
D. Sridhar Babu said, “Telangana’s life sciences sector has witnessed unprecedented growth over the past two years. A focused ecosystem-building effort, anchored in strong institutional leadership and policy continuity, has helped attract investments, forge global partnerships, and accelerate innovation and growth.”
The Minister also stressed the need to expedite the grounding of investment MoUs for Green Pharma City, which collectively amount to around Rs. 20,000 crore.
The meeting additionally introduced Sarvesh Singh as the new CEO of TLSF. He outlined priorities for 2026-27, including accelerating implementation of the state’s Life Sciences Policy and advancing initiatives such as the Telangana School of Life Sciences.
