ABDM-compliant platform aims to reduce data duplication, improve interoperability, and streamline healthcare delivery through a unified digital interface
In a significant push to strengthen India’s digital public health infrastructure, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) launched the Swasth Bharat Portal during the 10th National Summit on Innovation and Inclusivity: Best Practices Shaping India’s Health Future.
The portal was inaugurated by Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda.
The Swasth Bharat Portal is designed as an integrated aggregator platform that connects multiple national health programme applications through an API-based federated architecture. The initiative seeks to address longstanding challenges arising from fragmented digital systems, duplicate data entry, and siloed healthcare platforms across government programmes.
Envisioned as a single-window digital interface, the portal enables interoperability between existing health applications, reducing the need for multiple logins and repetitive reporting by healthcare workers. It is expected to significantly ease administrative workloads for frontline workers such as ASHAs, ANMs, Community Health Officers (CHOs), and Medical Officers.
The portal is compliant with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and supports integration with ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account), enabling secure and seamless exchange of patient health records. It is also expected to integrate with national registries including the Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR) and Health Facility Registry (HFR), paving the way for a more comprehensive digital health ecosystem.
According to the Ministry, the platform is expected to deliver substantial efficiency gains by reducing infrastructure duplication, repetitive data entry, and human resource overlap across multiple programme-specific portals. The government estimates infrastructure savings of around 20–30%, while repetitive data entry and HR duplication could reduce by nearly 20–40%.
