Collaboration to study integration of AI-enabled VR solutions into medical and nursing curricula
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has partnered with MediSim VR to integrate AI-enabled virtual reality solutions into medical and nursing education, marking a significant step toward advancing immersive skill training in India’s healthcare education ecosystem.
The collaboration aims to jointly research and evaluate how VR-based simulation training can be embedded into medical and nursing curricula, focusing on its impact on skill development, training standardisation, assessment, and long-term institutional adoption. The initiative further strengthens AIIMS’ role as India’s benchmark institution for pioneering next-generation healthcare learning methods.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. M Srinivas, Director, AIIMS New Delhi, said, “If the country as a whole is to be in the best league, that has to extend to all spheres, including medical innovations, medical teaching, training and learning as well. VR-based simulation training creates an immersive learning environment that closely mirrors clinical settings. This collaboration will help us further study how such technologies can contribute to skill development, assessment and training standardisation.”
Dr. Ambuj Roy, Professor of Cardiology and Head of SET Facility at AIIMS New Delhi, said the institute continues to redefine the future of medical education. “By integrating virtual reality, we are not just enhancing training, we are shaping a future where every healthcare professional is equipped with precision, confidence and cutting-edge skills. This partnership marks a transformative step toward setting new global benchmarks in medical learning,” he said.
From MediSim VR, Dr. Adith Chinnaswami, COO and Co-founder, noted that AIIMS’ adoption of VR as a teaching tool could influence the wider medical education ecosystem. “This collaboration is centred around creating a framework where VR becomes part of standard training, and eventually, part of regulations,” he said.
Sabarish Chandrasekaran, CEO and Co-founder of MediSim VR, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to leveraging technology for better learning outcomes and could inspire wider adoption across academic institutions nationwide.
