The Women's Hospital (TWH), India's first multi-speciality women-centric hospital, has introduced the SSI Mantra Generation 3 Surgical Robotic System developed by SS Innovations, enhancing its capabilities to deliver advanced minimally invasive robotic surgeries across multiple clinical specialties.

The addition of the Made-in-India robotic platform strengthens the hospital's ability to perform precision-led procedures in general surgery, gynaecology, urology, gastrointestinal, colorectal and thoracic surgery, further expanding access to robot-assisted care for patients requiring complex surgical interventions.

The hospital said the new system is designed to improve surgical precision while enabling minimally invasive procedures that can result in smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, fewer complications, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery compared with conventional surgical approaches.

The SSI Mantra Generation 3 is a four-arm robotic surgical system comprising robotic arms, a surgeon console and a main console. It is equipped with an integrated camera, light source and multiple energy systems, including monopolar, bipolar and harmonic energy sources. 

The platform supports more than 20 robotic instruments, CSSD and ETO sterilisation for robotic instruments, and telesurgery capabilities that allow surgeons and patients to be in different locations where clinically appropriate.
